The Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) is a proven, innovative home-based literacy and parenting program serving families challenged by obstacles to (children’s) educational success. Published research demonstrates that the Parent-Child Home Program prepares children to succeed in school and is a proven tool in decreasing high school dropout rates.
PCHP emphasizes the parent-child verbal interaction critical to early childhood brain development.
The 2005 National Conference of the Parent-Child Home Program took place on May 23-24th. Alice, Lisa and Nancy from the Hazleton PCHP staff are flanked by the staff of the PCHP National Center, as well as Dr. Phyllis Leventstein, the founder of PCHP (Seated on left).
On August 8, 2004 the National Center for the Parent-Child Home Program conducted a site replication visit. This visit was comprised of a worker from the National Center, Home Visitors from our local PCHP as well as a staff member from the Center for Schools and Communities and the Luzerne Intermediate Unit #18.
