Ross Home Ownership Program
The Ross Home Ownership Program is a family enrichment service offered by the Hazleton Housing Authority for residents of Vine West Family Community. The program assists families to develop necessary life skills that will enable them to achieve the goal of home ownership. Families develop attainable goals through the assistance and ongoing support of a family caseworker. Catholic Social Services coordinates direct service to families.
The Ross Home Ownership Progam:
Empowers individuals and families to set attainable goals and to develop proper decision-making techniques.
Assists in achieving stable economic self-sufficiency and financial stability.
Teaches the skills needed to acquire adequate employment or further education.
Provides savings account and escrow programs to assist in saving for a new home.
St. Ann's Permanent Supportive Housing Program
The St. Ann's Program secures four 2-bedroom apartments and four 3-bedroom apartments, for occupation by persons with a qualifying disability, along with their families.
The program has three basic goals:
To help participants obtain and remain in permanent housing
To help participants increase skills and/or income. Meeting this goal will allow the participants to secure an income to live as independently as possible
To help participants achieve greater self-determination. The condition of homelessness itself can be damaging to one’s self-determination; achieving a greater sense of self-determination enables the participant to gain needed confidence to make the transition out of homelessness.
